Tuesday 6, 2015

The strongest technical aspect of my work is my sky. I originally had a different sky with more colors like purple and pink and it was going into night time, just not exactly there yet. Although i liked my old sky it was interesting putting a new one in. It wasn't as hard as i thought and i feel like this one looks better in with my theme and the little island in the back with all the lights glaring off the water. If there was a way that i could've worked on and changed the look of the boat in the water i would have. I want it to look more realistic, having waves or bumpy water below the cruise ship. The easiest part of this art activity was putting my palm trees in and making them different sizes to look more realistic. The most difficult part of this assignment shockingly was just finding the right picture and being able to find something to put as a foreground in the photo. I had dragged over at least 6 different tropical photos trying to find the right pieces to stick in in front of it and for me it was hard. Normally i am good at that type of stuff and i have a good eye for that. I demonstrated the objective in this assignment by creating a mask to for one make my sky different and i also created different foregrounds. If i could do this activity again i would add more grass over to were the palm trees are. There isn't much and it looks somewhat fake.

The strongest technical aspect of this project id say would be the type of font i used for my K. I chose K instead of all the other letters because it is the first letter of my name and i think its a pretty and interesting letter. The aspect of my work that could be improved on would be the colors i used. I loved the way it looked when i first made it, but now looking at it i find the colors to be dull. I needed some other type to make the picture pop out. The easiest part in this assignment was making the background and choosing a color that would fit the other colors together. The most difficult part of this was flipping the K's and making them symmetrical to match the other ones. Whenever i made a copy of one and then had to flip it or rotate i always seemed to mess that part up and it got frustrating. I demonstrated the objective in this activity by creating symmetry using a letter and rotating to match the others as if it was on paper and had gotten folded in half. If i was asked to do this project over again i think i would use different colors that were more brighter and distinct.

The strongest technical aspect of my work would be my water, the tools i used made it look like i didn't even go over the water. I used a low opacity which put a light shading over the water and used a darker color behind the palm tree to create a type of shadow making it look more realistic. i think if i didn't feel so rushed i would've done a better job. I had to redo my work multiple times and if i had more time i would have worked more on my palm trees making the palms look more defined. i had some trouble bringing the hardness back in to create a darker shadow on the palms and even the edges of the mountains when switching the brush type. The easiest part of this activity was choosing the type of picture i wanted for this assignment. I love all things tropical and going and working on a picture i love helps a bit. the most difficult part of this assignment was having the paint over all the back rounds to the front pictures i couldn't do it or figure it out. i wanted to repaint over the sky but the palm trees were in the way and i thought i could have ruined the palms since I'm not too familiar with photoshop. I demonstrated the objective in this by editing the photo through painting and using blending modes.  if i were to do this art activity again i would've chosen a completely different picture and started with something easier to work on and start off with.

Tuesday 9th, 2015

The strongest technical aspect of my work i'd say would be my elephant. I have always loved elephants especially the oriental looking ones with jewels and different colors. I took my time and used my favorite tropical colors into my elephant, but added some realistic colors and i love how it turned out. What i could've worked on and made a little bit better would be my back round. Although i love the theme of it and the idea of the tropical paradise, it came out some what disfigured. I wish it was all evened out to fit the screen better especially the long palm tree above the elephant. Im not sure how i could've fixed it since I'm not too familiar with photoshop, but i still was obsessed with the picture itself. The easiest part and the funnest i would say was coloring in each figure i got and adding my own colors in. it was like drawing in a coloring book accept you create the coloring book and use tools to splatter the color into it. It got aggravating at some points when the paint bucket would miss the spot but it was my favorite throughout this whole project. The most difficult part of this activity for me was moving around the objects to fit inside the picture the best. I originally had a lot more going on in the picture, but i had deleted a few things i worked hard on and enlarged and made some of the pieces smaller. I demonstrated the objective in this art project by balancing colors and showing transitions of realism in coloring page images. If i could do this art activity again i would choose a different back round and have it not all look so cluttered together and stick with certain pieces that go together better.
